Can you hear all the fanfare? The pre-Olympics training period is fast drawing to a close. The Opening Ceremony of God's Great Olympics is almost here! The buzz of excitement and happy activity can be seen, heard, and felt everywhere as Saint Andrew's plans to host GOD'S GREAT OLYMPICS!!! The coming week will see the completion of the Savior's Stadium in Moncrief Hall, the final painting of flags, athletic figures, murals, and banners to adorn hallways and classrooms, the preparation of arts and crafts rooms, the rehearsing of skits and Bible stories, the planning and practicing of Olympic games, the musical sounds (both melodic and brassy) of beautiful hymns and Olympic "fight songs," the preparation of snacks fit for "God's special athletes," practice runs for God's gold medalists, etc., etc., etc! lf you want to catch the Olympic spirit big-time, come on down to St. Andrew's during the coming week I guarantee you will want to be a member of God's great Olympic Team yourself!
Most of us cannot travel to Beijing this summer. Indeed, many of us may never get to the Summer or Winter Olympic Games, to witness athletes coming together from all over the world. But all of us can be a part of "God's Great Olympics" right here at Staint Andrew's this summer!! Indeed, an Olympics specially tuned to the things of the Lord is really the greatest Olympics of all! Come drop by the church, even if just for a few hours the next two weeks, and see if you don't agree! The final stages of preparation are almost as exciting as the big week itself!
God's Great Olympics runs July 14-18, from 9:30-12:30 daily, in the Savior's Stadium and the Olympic Village (in Moncrief Hall), as well as in all the other training areas all over the parish house. Young Olympians age 3-12 are welcome to participate in these great Olympic Games, and older youth may serve as assistant trainers and assistant coaches on our own special Olympic team, helping the head coaches throughout the week. We are delighted to open our Olympic Games to visitors and guests throughout the community. You won't find a more exciting week of summer activity anywhere! It is not every week or every year that you can be involved in the Olympics! There is no registration or entrance fee for these great Olympic Games.
