Ministry & Mission

St. Andrew’s work in both domestic and foreign mission carries out a key tenet of our mission statement – “to spread God’s kingdom through charitable, righteous works locally and globally” – a direct response to Jesus’ commandment in the Great Commission to "go and make disciples of all nations ..." (Matthew 28:19). St. Andrew's has a heart for Ministry & Mission that dates back to the 19th century when our church helped found Union Gospel Mission in Fort Worth. Our desire is to share the knowledge and love of Christ with others, as we remember Jesus’ words: "For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me " (Matthew 25:35-36).

Our work in Ministry & Mission is guided by a Committee of parishioners organized to identify and support ministries that propagate the Gospel, both at home and abroad. Committee Members The Committee reviews different programs and ministries and makes annual funding recommendations to the Vestry. A major goal of the Committee is to encourage and enable members of the parish to become personally involved in these ministries.

St. Andrew’s Ministry & Mission Committee works directly with several local area ministries and programs. Read more about our Domestic Ministry Partners. St. Andrew's is also committed to supporting cross-cultural and Foreign Missions and has been involved in many mission trips over the years to Africa, Mexico and Central America. Parish leaders have taken the initiative in the Diocese of Fort Worth for organizing and leading mission trips to our companion dioceses of Northern Malawi and Belize, as well as supporting other foreign mission work. Read More About Our Belize Trip St. Andrew's most recent mission trip to the Diocese of Northern Malawi involved a team led by Dr. Glen Petta, with parishioners Rob Sell and Chad Fillmore as well as Associate Rector, the Rev. Mr. Davidson Morse.

There are many ways to participate in mission; giving of your treasure is one of them. Other ways include volunteering directly with area ministry partners, joining regional or foreign mission teams as participants, and serving as prayer supporters for mission teams. We invite you to see how God might be calling you to become involved in St. Andrew’s mission work locally in our own community, or perhaps beyond.
