At dinner last night we got food from Waraguma’s, reputedly ranked the 5th best restaurant in the world! It was good, even great, but how do you know what the 5th best food in the world is?

Last night after dinner, we got to play baseball with the kids who had been begging us for 2 days to play with them. We were originally going to play with a tennis ball, on the beach, but we figured we’d hit it too far, either over the wall of the school next door or into the sea. So we found a whiffle and played with it. On the very first pitch from Stuart McLaughlin, Jay Stouffer hit the whiffle ball and split it in 2!

So we brought out the tennis ball, but the 3rd batter hit it over the school wall, and we never found it again. It was fun while it lasted!

Yesterday we also learned a lesson in humility and trusting in God. We had our VBS all ready and lined up. We had our plans all ready. We had everything under control. And then God quietly said, “Let me remind you Who’s really in charge,” and promptly upset all of our plans.

So today we came to our 2nd day of VBS even more ready to be flexible and ready to do what He asked us to do. Things began in a much more normal way today, and everyone was ready to do whatever it took. We all did very well until about 9:30, when the power went out! This means not only fans and lights, but also the computer lab, where we had planned to show our movie: Veggie Tales Jonah.

I prayed all throughout the next hour, and praise God!, the power came on at about 10:30 (the movie was scheduled for 11:00).

After lunch, we went out and slapped some oil on some posts to keep the termites out.

This was a tougher day physically for everyone. The heat has begun to take its toll on us in a way it hadn’t the last fews days. Martha Dowling has capably been nursing everyone who has been worn out or feeling sick: she even helped a local boy who had a very painful boil in his foot that he had had for months.

When we woke this morning, we discovered that Henry Manning had gotten sick last night. I prayed over him, and he looked to be doing OK this morning, but he stayed back with Libby at the hotel just to make sure.

Here are some Prayer Requests
1. Thankfulness for safety and health; prayer for continued safety and health (especially for Henry; Abby Albritton and Riley Genua were also feeling poorly, but not exactly sick)
2. God would reveal Himself mightily to each person on the team
3. God would make His call known to each youth on the trip
