THE ROSE LAFFERTY AND FLORA FOUST EDUCATIONAL FUNDS

The Rose Lafferty and Flora Foust Educational Funds Trusts were established in 1987 from the wills of Rose Lafferty and her sister Flora Foust. The two trusts were combined into one fund whose purpose is to provide merit scholarships and educational grants to aid young women and men, who are residents of Tarrant and Erath counties, to secure education or vocational training in Texas institutions. The scholarship will be awarded on a wholly nonsectarian basis, without distinction or preference because of sex, race, or religion. The ages of the recipients may vary from high school seniors or collage age, up to age forty.

A recipient must be a citizen of the United States and must be a current resident of either Tarrant or Erath County. Furthermore, a resident must have lived in the county for at least one year. According to the guidelines established by the Rose Lafferty and Flora Foust Educational Funds, scholarships are given to students who have demonstrated ability sufficient to complete the proposed course of study or training. Applicants must be of good character, showing evidence of seriousness of purpose and willingness to work. The amount of scholarship is not fixed. The scholarship will be awarded for one academic year; however, a recipient may reapply for a subsequent year. All funds awarded will be sent directly to the institution the recipient attends and can be applied to tuition, fees, books, and housing. The applicant has the right to apply for and receive scholarships and financial aid from other sources, but a recipient can only receive a scholarship from one of the scholarship funds located at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church.
