Students Ministry

St. Andrew’s Student Ministry serves 6th-12th graders. We partner with and help resource families to make disciples of our youth, aiming, through our time spent together in worship, prayer, Bible study, mission, and fellowship, to grow into the likeness of Christ.

Each year we typically have a Summer Trip, mission projects, and fun trips and outings throughout the year. We train liturgical acolytes to serve at Morning Prayer and Holy Communion, and run a yearly Confirmation Class for 8th graders wishing to be confirmed in the summer.

It is our hope and the aim of all that we do “that according to the riches of his glory God may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” (Ephesians 3:16-21)

"The Heavens Declare..." | Students' Summer Retreat 2023

On July 14-18, our students took a trip to Cleburne State Park; after five days of fellowship, games, fun, exploring, prayer, Bible study and more, we’re back and rested up!

After settling into the park on Friday, on Saturday we hiked through the woods, and up a high ridge to look down at the lake. Sunday we drove out to Dinosaur Valley State Park, and had a picnic there. Monday we visited Church of the Holy Comforter, the home church of St. Andrew’s new curate KC Lopez, who met us there and led us in prayers, before the rector there shared with us about the history of the church (built in 1893!) and their ministry in Cleburne. Later that day we went down to the lake at the park for some swimming and kayaking.

Through it all, we sang together, prayed Morning and Evening Prayer, and spent some time reflecting on the beauty of creation, and how Psalms 8 and 19 call us to respond to beauty by worshipping God, by recognizing that God’s work in the world points us toward Christ, and by “hearing” beauty as the call of God, drawing us by his Spirit deeper into lives of prayer, love, and likeness to Christ.

We’re so glad for the opportunity to have grown closer to one another and closer to God whose glory “the heavens declare”! (Psalm 19:1).
